Jaya to contest from Andipatti, drops three Ministers

AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa today decided seek re-election from Andipatti in Theni district in the May 8 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls and also denied tickets to three of her Cabinet colleagues.

Ministers C Ponniyan, A Annavi and Inbatamizhan do not figure in the list of 182 candidates released by her today.

Of the 132 party MLAs in the present 234-member assembly, Jayalalithaa has retained only 53 and brought in fresh faces.(more...)
