In a stunning sting operation, the pro-DMK Sun TV news channel has aired an "expose" alleging that the state law and IT minister D. Jayakumar distributed sewing machines to women from his Royapuram constituency in north Chennai in violation of the model code of conduct that is in force for the May 8 elections to the state Assembly. The Sun news clips showed several women arriving at the minister's official bungalow armed with his invitation to receive the sewing machines.(more...)
