Vaiko opposes direct election to civic chiefs

MDMK leader Vaiko on Sunday said that the Tamil Nadu Government’s recent decision to abolish direct election of civic body chiefs would result in horse-trading within the local bodies.

“Instead of letting people to elect municipal chairmen and corporation mayors, the new changes would only result in horse-trading and end people’s rule,“ he told reporters here on Sunday.(more...)
