DMK-led DPA scuttling implementation of welfare plans: Jaya

Charging the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance with "scuttling" the implementation of several ongoing welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa today said these parties were using the Election Commission for political purposes.

It is being done simply because our adversaries are pressurising the EC to prevent the benefits reaching to deserved people," she told reporters after releasing party's manifestoes for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry polls.

She said the EC had banned continuation of the tsunami and flood relief works, distribution of aids under the farmers welfare scheme and distribution of sarees and dhoties to over four crore people, which were on going schemes.(more...)
