Palanivel Rajan to contest from Madurai (Central) DMK releases list of candidates for 131 seats

Former Speaker P.T.R. Palanivel Rajan, who lost by a narrow margin in the 2001Assembly elections, most of the Ministers from the 1996 cabinet are among those who find a place in the list of DMK contestants. The DMK will contest 127 seats while five more candidates will contest on the DMK symbol, rising sun.

Former AIADMK Minister Kannappan, who floated the Makkal Tamil Desam and later merged with the DMK, Puratchi Bharatham leader Poovai Jegan, P.V. Kadiravan (All-India Forward Bloc - Vallarasu faction), three IUML members also find a place in the list. Of this, the Palayamkottai IUML candidate is yet to be named.
