Tamil Nadu parties step up quota pressure

Political parties in Tamil Nadu stepped up their demand for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota, and also urged the centre to drop the talks on excluding the creamy layer from reservation in education and jobs.

"We are still continuing an irrational debate over implementing reservations for the OBCs," Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi said in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.(more...)
