CPM decides against fielding veterans

The CPI(M) on Friday decided against fielding candidates who had completed more than two terms as MLAs for the May 8, 2006 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, with veteran MLAs J Hemachandran and D Moni being denied tickets on this count.

R Lima Rose will now contest the Thiruvattaru seat, held by Hemachandran, while G John Joseph would contest from Vilavankode, represented by Moni. Both of them will be making their electoral debut.

The CPI(M) has been allotted 13 seats in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive alliance in Tamil Nadu.(more...)
