Jaya hits campaign trail; steals a march over Opposition

First off the block, AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa today launched her campaign for May 8 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu with a sharp attack on the Centre for raising prices of essential commodities and accused union ministers from the state of 'blocking' all schemes of her government.

"The price of PDS rice was raised by the Centre. However, the government headed by your beloved sister has not hiked the price in the state and is providing the rice at Rs.3.50 per kg,' she said in an obvious response to DMK's poll promise of providing quality rice at Rs.Two per kg if voted to power.(more...)
